YOUNG people from West Notts College and Nottinghamshire YMCA have produced a film which offers a snapshot of life growing up in the area.
A Century of Youth is a 50-minute film exploring fashion, entertainment, technology, education and work through the eyes of the people who were there.
Over the past six months, 25 students have taken part in storyboarding, planning, production, interviewing and editing with the help of the YMCA’s film production youth workers.
The film includes interview footage which is intertwined with archive film to give a flavour of life at the time.
Film production youth worker Thomas Hall said: “Bringing a Century of Youth to the big screen is a huge achievement for the young people involved, and the time, effort and commitment they have put in cannot be underestimated.”
The film’s premiere took place at Nottingham’s Broadway Cinema on Friday and was attended by students, their families, and those who had been interviewed for the film.
West Notts College student Kyle Bytheway said: “The experience of being on a filming location was fantastic. It has made me realise that the path I’ve chosen is the right one – the YMCA staff were great and I thank them for the experience they gave us.”
