MANSFIELD schoolchildren are set to discover the careers and training opportunities available to them at a fair hosted by West Notts College.
This year’s Mansfield Careers and Opportunities Fair run in conjunction with Mansfield Learning Partnership (MLP) will be inviting pupils from their partner schools - Garibaldi College, The Meden School, Queen Elizabeth’s Academy, The Manor Academy and The Brunts Academy - as well as other secondary schools to seek advice about their futures.
The event, on 21st November, which takes place in the college’s new sports hall, will provide pupils aged between 14 and 18 years of age with information on future post-16 education, training and careers opportunities including apprenticeships and university-level study.
Organisations such as the NHS, the Army, Stagecoach and The Chad will be on hand to inform students about the training pathways needed for a range of careers.
Visitors will be able to have a go at a number of activities to experience different occupational areas. Activities include body combat, hairdressing demonstrations, a fitness workout while those interested in childcare will be able to have hands-on experience with a virtual baby.
Representatives from West Nottinghamshire College, New College Nottingham and South Nottingham College will be available at the event, which runs from 9am to 3pm, to give pupils advice on their range of courses.
Director of the MLP Berni Dickinson said: “This event will provide young people with impartial advice and guidance on post-16 training available within their district.
“Our partners are working together to provide the best possible pathways for young people in Mansfield and we look forward to welcoming the schools so they can discover more about the wide range of training and career opportunities available to them.”
