MORE than 100 adult learners at West Notts College will be celebrating their achievements together next week.
The students, who have all completed a range of Access to Higher Education diplomas or Fresh Start programmes, will be taking to the stage at the Chesterfield Road campus on 12th July.
They will collect certificates of achievement from Emily Carr, from the Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA), which is the body responsible for validating the courses.
The college offers Access to Higher Education diplomas in business, combined humanities and social studies, teacher training, law, nursing and healthcare, science and social work.
Programmes are aimed at giving adults a second chance to study and a way in to studying a degree-level course. The Access courses give students important study skills and techniques such as research and referencing to prepare them for studying at university.
Head of business, professional and continuing education Dawn Stewart said: “For many of our students on the Access and Fresh Start courses, it’s the first time they’ve studied since school. Our awards evening is not only a celebration of gaining a qualification, it is also recognition of a journey of self-development and new beginnings.”
