Wellow’s annual maypole celebrations are planned for this Monday, 26th May.
Held on the village green, the celebrations will start at noon and finish around 5pm.
Retiring Wellow May Queen, Evie McCool, will crown her successor, Eleanor Laughton during the event.
Returning this year is the renowned K9 Dancing Dogs will be performing on the village green, and Kick ‘n’ Rush and Rattlejag Morris will be providing musical entertainment.
Other entertainers include Julz Dance School and Ollerton Town Drum Corps. There will also be Punch and Judy, children’s swing boat rides, vintage and classic vehicles, a traditional fairground organ, miniature steam engines, a static falconry display, and of course lots of stalls and games for all the family packed around the village green.
The procession of the children from St Swithin’s Church starts at 2.30pm, the crowning of the May Queen is at 2.45pm followed by the maypole dancing.
