A WARTIME musical about the old fashioned British stiff upper lip is being presented at Mansfield’s Palace Theatre from 8th-12th November.
Lionel Bart’s Blitz! is set in 1940s East End London at the time of German bomb strikes on the capital and is being to life by local production company Masque.
Director Andrew Wolden said: “Blitz is a very ambitious production for Masque and has a large cast of over 55 people, including 20 talented juniors aged between seven and 15. This is a show that will make you both laugh and cry and is a wonderful monument to the Second World War.”
Blitz! is full of memorable musical numbers such as Far Away, The Day After Tomorrow - orignally recorded by Dame Vera Lynn - and Mums and Dads performed by the junior members of the cast.
It centres on the relationship between a Jewish family, the Blitzteins, and a Cockney family, the Lockes, as Hitler’s bombs drop.
l Tickets are priced £10, £8 for concessions from the box office on Mansfield 633133.
