A teenage singing sensation picked up an award at a national singing competition, despite not making it through to the grand final.

Savinnah Quelcuti (15), who attends Meden School, was up against tough competition at the regional round of the Open Mic UK, which attracts thousands of singers each year.

However, she still managed to pick up the ‘Best Exposure’ award, and secured a day in a top recording studio.

She also won The Vales Got Talent competition recently, winning the top prize of £400 and she is due to star at Mansfield Palace Theatre on 22nd February, next
year.
