HUNDREDS of people flocked to the annual Warsop Christmas Market on Thursday for the switch-on of the town’s festive lights.
Local band Second Day First - including Joe Barlow, McCauley Walters, Ellie Keegan and Ebony Moody - who won this year’s Warsop’s Got Talent competition, helped to turn on the lights.
Parish Council chairman Coun Stuart Moody said: “It was great to see everyone brave the cold to support the event and the atmosphere was great. Thanks must go to all the volunteers who helped to make it a success.”
The event was organised by the Christmas Cracker Team and included Christmas carols, late-night shopping, refreshments and Christmas stalls.
There was a free family ice skating rink with ‘snow’ and a visit from Santa, with children able to visit him in his grotto.
The evening also included a Galaxy fireworks display on the High Street and an Xmas Factor competition organised by Shine, with performances by local soloists, choirs and bands.
A free shuttle bus was organised around the parish to help ferry people to and from the event.
