CARNIVAL organisers are appealing for members of the public to get in touch if they would like to get involved in helping put together this year’s Christmas celebrations in Kirkby.
Discussions about the event are already underway at Ashfield District Council following a disappointing event last Christmas, when Chad reported how many residents were unhappy with the lack of attractions that were put on compared to the usual festive feast.
The council is keen to hear from community groups who would like to be involved in the planning and delivery of the 2012 event.
It hopes to set up a working group to move the event forward and deliver a more traditional Christmas family event for the local community.
Coun Warren Nuttall, of Ashfield District Council, said: “Kirkby deserves a Christmas celebration of quality which the whole family can enjoy.
“We will work with the community to ensure that this is achieved in 2012.”
Any community group or group of individuals who would like to get involved should contact Ashfield District Council on 01623 450000 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
