Green-fingered volunteers put in a shift of back-breaking work to plant more than 180 trees at Mansfield’s Forest Road Park.

Bought via a grant from The Sherwood Forest Trust, a team of helpers from Friends of Forest Road Park and students from Samworth Church Academy, spent the afternoon digging and planting.

An orchard covering up to 2,000 sq m has been created and will be complemented by the planting of a wildflower meadow later in the year.
