Bryan Garner (35), the phone shop manager at the Chesterfield Road Tesco store, put together a band, Atlas, to record the CD to raise the cash for the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

Covering Robbie Williams’ ‘Let Me Entertain You’ and Elton John’s ‘Your Song’, they recently performed the tracks outside the store recently to entertain passing shoppers.

And having been on sale for a few weeks, Sutton resident Bryan says there has been a lot of interest, which has been helped by Bryan’s friend and Hollywood actor John Schneider, from The Dukes of Hazard TV series in the 1980s.

The star recorded message urging people to buy the CD, which appears to have worked.

He said: “It’s been brilliant, we have tonnes of downloads and the CDs are going well.

“We did this off our own back and because 100 per cent of the sales go to charity, we want to push it as much as we can.

“All but two of us work in Tesco and we have musical backgrounds so we just thought about getting together for this.

“We had to record it in the studio in one day so it was tense, but it was well worth it.

“It’s doing so well we’re thinking about doing another in October.”

The CDs are on sale for £4 at all Tesco stores across the East Midlands or can be downloaded for 99p on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.
