VIDEO: Skegby First World War event looks back 100 years
The Methodist Church and Anchor Centre played host to a commemorative day held to mark the centenary of the start of the war and gave people a taste of different aspects of life at that time.
Organised by Skegby resident and war historian Karen Holloway, the event included a presentation on local soldiers who fought in the war, a sing-a-long of war songs and a touching performance of The Last Post by a piper and bugler.

The day was well supported by villagers, with people of all ages attending and enjoying the range of war-related activities on offer, which also included crafts, displays put together by Skegby schoolchildren and a comedy sketch.
Karen added: “The local community really got behind it - everybody chipped in and the Methodist Church really helped.
“The reaction has been brilliant so a big thank you to everybody who helped out.”
