More than 600 children from children’s centres across Mansfield have enjoyed a free fun day out at the seaside.

Miss Mansfield Alice Kurylo waved off the party yesterday morning as they rolled out of the town centre under a VIP police escort.

Thanks to Mansfield taxi firm, 6five2s, the youngsters and their families enjoyed fish and chips, donkey rides, ice cream, rock and goody bags at popular Lincolnshire resort, Skegness.

It was the firm’s fifth annual fun run which sees drivers work for free to give families, who may not normally afford a trip to the seaside, a great day out.

Barry Answer, organiser and taxi driver, said: “We try to take as many people as we can each year.

“I know that this year some of the children we took had never been to the seaside before.

“Families don’t need to spend a penny if they don’t want to as almost everything they could want we have paid for.”

6Five2’s want to thank all the businesses who supported the day.
