Two men killed in Wellow road collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road collision in Wellow in which two men died.

The incident happened at around 5.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 24th July) in Rufford Lane and involved two cars and a motorcycle.

Following the crash, one of the cars caught fire and despite the efforts of the emergency services to rescue the two occupants of the vehicle, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist and his pillion passenger, both aged 19 and male, were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries.

The 39-year-old male driver of the other car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Nobody else was injured.

Rufford Lane, from the scene of the crash to the junction with the A616 at Wellow Village, were closed while the scene was cleared and officers carried out their investigation. It was re-opened just after 3am.
