funeral arrangers in New Ollerton have donated over 800 gifts for local children.

Sheryl Carrington and Stewart Whyle, from The Co-operative Funeralcare at Sherwood Drive, collected over 800 gifts from businesses in New Ollerton, Ollerton, Boughton, Edwinstowe, Worksop and Carlton-in-Lindrick.

The gifts were mainly for older children aged 11-16 and the NSPCC and Sure Start Children’s Centres distributed the gifts around Ollerton and Mansfield.

Sheryl said: “I walked through the doors of lots of businesses and every time I returned my arms were full. It inspires faith in human nature when businesses are struggling but people are still so generous.”

Businesses including Wilkinson’s Co-operative Food, Scrooger’s, the Craft and Knitting Centre, Healthy Looks Beauty Salon and architectural design company JDA all contributed.

Sheryl and Stewart also collected 52 selection boxes and a new play kitchen for to St Paulinus Church’s Little Angels Baby and Toddler Group late last year.
