I reply to Sir Alan Meale’s letter ‘We must save our town’, Sir Alan suggests many changes, yet he seems to have missed the point: to have a successful town you need people.
‘Why have market traders deserted Mansfield?’, take a look at the Mansfield of yesterday, a thriving town centre, a busy market and public transport, round the town centre. The town needs people, people need convenient public transport, I have on many occasions through the columns of the Chad suggested a round-town bus service. Sadly this has fallen on deaf ears, unless Mansfield District Council takes steps to halt the decline then Mansfield will fade into obscurity.
Shops need people, people need buses.
