Three Ashfield Co-op stores are supporting two worthy causes with a ‘Token of Support’ scheme which lets customers decide where the money goes.
Co-op food stores on Skegby Road and Chapel Street in Kirkby and the fuel station on Huthwaite Road in Sutton have been supporting 1st Kirkby Scouts and Sutton Sting Ice Hockey Academy.
Sara Leung, a Co-op spokesperson, said: “1st Kirkby in Ashfield Scouts has been serving the community since 1912 and runs an exciting programme of challenging activities. It is open to boys and girls aged 6-25 years who develop skills including teamwork, leadership and initiative.
“Sutton Sting Ice Hockey Academy was formed in 2006 to provide children with the opportunity to play ice hockey. They now have 10 teams competing in the English Ice Hockey Association leagues with children from 5 to 17 years of age playing hockey and keeping active.
“The club is accredited by Sport England’s Club Mark scheme and is regarded as one of the best ice hockey club’s in the country. The Sting play at the Lammas Leisure Centre and have opportunities and openings for new players throughout the year.”
