Firefighters spent more than three hours at a park in Mansfield on Sunday after a dog became stuck on a ledge.

A crew from Mansfield and two specialist units were called to Spider Park on Berry Hill Lane at 3.55pm.

Ropes, rescue lighting and a thermal imaging camera was used to get the beagle to safety and reunite it with his owner, but it was after 7pm before they left the scene.

A spokesman at Mansfield Fire Station said: “It was with its owner but had run off. It had managed to get up there but wasn’t able to get back down. It’s a cliff face, it’s a sheer drop of about 100ft.”
