1. Try tennis for free

The Lawn Tennis Association is holding its Great British Tennis Weekend

There will be free tennis taster sessions on Sunday, May 14, at Welbeck Tennis Club, Worksop, 10am to 4pm and Mansfield Lawn Tennis Club, 10am to 3pm.

2. Reginald D Hunter, Nottingham Playhouse

One of the comedy world’s best-known performers is back with his new show Some People v Reginald D Hunter on Sunday, May 14.

Known for his distinctive take on subjects including race and sexuality, his work can be brutally honest and is often considered to be controversial.

But he has never been afraid to face challenging issues head on, even when the focus is on his own principles or beliefs.

3. Nottinghamshire County Show, Newark Showground

This agricultural extravaganza promises entertainment for all the family. As well as livestock on display, there will be lawn mower racing, show jumping, craft stalls, shopping, classic cars and much more.

Entry is £10 for adults if booked in advance or £15 on the door. It is free for under 17s.

4. Counterfeit, Untouchables and Think Lizzy, The Frog, Worksop

Two nights of live music begin on Friday, May 12 with a double helping from Limp Bizkit tribute Counterfeit and Korn tribute Untouchables.

Entry is £5 on the door.

On Saturday, May 13, the music comes from Thin Lizzy tribute Think Lizzy.

5. Open day at Daneshill Sailing Club

Daneshill Sailing Club is inviting you and the family to test the water on Sunday, May 14, between 11am and 4pm as part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Push the Boat Out incentive.

6. Talon - The Best of The Eagles, Mansfield Palace Theatre

From humble beginnings to one of the most successful theatre touring shows in the UK, this year sees Talon on their 20th anniversary tour with all the classic Eagles hits including Hotel California, Take It Easy, One Of These Nights, Take It To The Limit, Desperado, Lyin’ Eyes, Life In The Fast Lane’ and more. 7. Rattle, Rhyme and Roll, Mansfield Woodhouse Library

This free session on Friday, May 12, between 10am and 10.30am on Friday gives you the chance to enjoy songs and nursery rhymes with your baby or toddler.

8. Black Dyke Band, Mansfield Palace Theatre

One of the most celebrated and famous brass bands, the Black Dyke Band has made more than 350 recordings, been European champions 13 times, won the National Championships of Great Britain 23 times and the British Open 30 times. The ban will perform on Sunday, May 14.

9. Much Ado About Nothing, The Riding Hall, Thoresby Park

From Thursday, May 10, to Saturday, May 13, The Clumber Platers will perform this Shakespearean farse.

10. Black Rose, The Stones and Live Showcase, The Diamond, Sutton-in-Ashfield

Another weekend of live music at the popular venue begins on Friday, May 12, with Thin Lizzy tribute Black Rose.

Tickets are £6 and £7.50.

On Saturday, May 13, The Stones will present a night of the greatest hits of the Rolling Stones.

Tickets are £7.50 and £8.

On Sunday, May 14, three bands take to the stage for a live showcase event.

Tickets are £3 and £4.
