Vistors to Rufford Country Park will be able to step back in time at a free 1940s-themed event. On the Home Front, 1940s Living History Weekend, takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September, at Rufford Abbey Country Park, 11am – 4.30pm
The park was a training ground for troops and armoured military units in the Second World War. Visitors will be able to meet Winston Churchill and General Montgomery impersonators, as well as army, navy, air force and wartime personnel in authentic period dress.
They can watch the Home Guard and army troops on manoeuvres, 40’s music shows, swing dancing, wartime cooking and military drill demonstrations and harvesting by Land Army girls and heavy horses.
There will also be a 1940’s market to buy period goods. Admission is free but there is a £3 charge for car parking.
