POTHOLES have become a terror on the roads of Mansfield and Ashfield since last year’s cold weather and council chiefs have now drawn up an action plan to smooth out the problem.
Nottinghamshire County Council is reviewing the techniques, vehicles, materials and training used in tackling the issue.
Coun Richard Jackson, cabinet member for transport and highways, said: “I would urge people to contact us to report potholes, rather than to assume that someone else has done it, as only about one fifth of them are reported to us, the rest being identified by us during our road inspections.”
l To report a pothole or other problems call 08449 808080 or visit www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk. The council says serious potholes are repaired within 24 hours.
