Swimmer will take plunge for charity

A MANSFIELD man will be taking to the swimming pool today to raise money for Headway House, the brain injury charity.

Darryl Redfern, 43, of Welbeck Street, will attempt to swim 60 lengths in an hour at the pool in Bulwell.

He suffers from short-term memory loss caused by a brain injury he sustained in a road accident 23 years ago.

He is doing the swim in memory of his mother, who died of cancer last year.

Anyone wanting to donate
is being asked to contact
Headway House in Nottingham on 0115 9679669.

The centre opened in 1996 and provides family support, social, leisure and educational activities to those who have suffered serious brain injuries.
