SWAN gets drivers in a flap after waddling on to M1 slip road

A swan has been sighted on the M1 slip road near junction 28.

An M1 slip road had to be closed earlier today because of a SWAN on the carriageway.

Highways England tweeted just after noon today (March 28) that drivers should 'be aware' as the slip road at junction 28 had been closed.

They tweeted it was "due to a swan in the carriageway."

By 12.40pm they said that the swan had been moved and the northbound entry slip road had re-opened after the swan flew off.

But the incident didn’t go down too well with some motorists. Drew Faulkner tweeted Highways England saying: “You’ve closed the #M1 entry because there’s a big duck on the slip road? #madness”
