FOUR Sutton teenagers honed their radio skills on Friday as part of a special visit by Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero to Takeover Radio.

Sisters Lily (9) and Lucy (14) Coleman put questions to the MP and asked her about the area, her job and what she likes doing in her spare time during the interview.

Gloria was then grilled by John Wilkinson and Darren Marshall about her life in Westminster and Gloria’s achievements as anMP.

Speaking after the visit James Finlayson, station manager, said the interview had been an excellent experience for the station’s presenters.

“We had Gloria on two live shows and it was great for the presenters to be able to quiz her,” said James.

“The shows went very well. Gloria was interested in what was being asked of her and the presenters did well.

“She answered questions on key subjects such as work placements.

“We have met Gloria at various events before and it was nice to have her in at the radio station so she could see what we have to offer and the quality of the presenters that we have.

“We hope to have another event with Gloria in January when she can discuss such topics again with our presenters.”

Earlier this year the radio station, which is based at Sutton Centre, secured a vital funding boost to continue providing training opportunities for youngsters looking for a career in the media.
