SUTTON Rambling Club will launch their 2012 walks programme with a steady linear walk of approximately nine miles in the South Derbyshire countryside on 8th January.
The route will cover four villages, parkland, woodland and farm tracks
The walk will start near the village of Shirley and head north west through Osmaston Park and on to the village of Osmaston, a picturesque little village with an attractive pond, where there will be a mid-morning break.
The group then continues in the same direction past Osmaston Fields Farm, cross Wyaston Road and then to thelunchtime destination of Clifton village.
In the afternoon they then move south west past Mount Pleasant farm and wood and continue through Snelston Park.
The final section takes the group across Windmill lane and by Ashton Close farm to the village of Norbury.
Here they pass by the Old Manor, a medieval hall with Tudor doors and 17th Century Flemish glass.
This very pleasant walk finishes near the bridge over the river Dove with an anticipated coach departure time home of 4pm.
