THE SALOON doors swung open at a Sutton pub which celebrated a £250,000 refit with a Wild West-themed party recently.
The Fox and Crown, on Dalestorth Road, officially re-opened on 1st April and is now part of the Flaming Grill chain.
Guest of honour at the party was Joanne Parr, of family charity Home-Start, and her family and colleagues. She was awarded the sheriff’s badge after an appeal by the pub for local unsung heroes.
Pub manager Jonathan Priddle said: “Our pub has really got off to a blazing start and it was great to see the pub packed with people of all ages having fun and enjoying our saloon style antics and magic tricks.
“It was a privilege to welcome sheriff Joanne and her ‘deputies’ to the Fox & Crown and we were really pleased to see them enjoying themselves.
“It was such a tough choice but we felt Joanne was a worthy sheriff. She provides a vital lifeline to local families facing difficulties and we felt that Joanne, her family and other Home-Start volunteers deserved a good treat.”
Joanne was treated to a VIP-style meal.
The newly refurbished pub serves barbecue-style food all year round and nine jobs were created by the upgrade.
