YOUNGSTER Max Starr is pictured helping to hand over a £1,207 donation to Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal in memory of his grandad Pete Starr.

Mr Starr found out he had cancer in June and passed away in October after the aggressive disease spread from his lungs.

The generous gift was raised after the Sutton family asked for donations at his funeral to support our ambitious appeal to raise £750,000 and help King’s Mill Hospital purchase a new state-of-the-art MRI Scanner.

Speaking after the presentation, wife Barbara said: “Pete always said that if he won the Lottery, he would buy the scanner for the hospital.

“The MRI scanner is a great appeal. It is something that will do an awful lot of good for an awful lot of people. We are also planning to do a sponsored bike ride next Spring for the appeal.”
