A TOP planning chief at Newark & Sherwood District Council was suspended after a police investigation was launched, it has been revealed.
Chad reported last week how the head of planning services Mike Evans had been suspended from his job last month.
It has now emerged he is being investigated by police following an allegation about a criminal matter, which is not believed to be related to his work at the council.
A police spokesman said a 53-year-old man was arrested on 27th March and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
The council has refused to release any details about why he was suspended.
