Sunflowers at Hardwick

FAMILIES have an extra reason to enjoy a visit to the National Trust’s Hardwick Hall after the launch of a sunflower growing competition for youngsters.

It has been introduced to celebrate the start of the Hardwick Experience, which includes the £6.5m Stableyard development, a herb garden, plant shop and the Great Barn Restaurant.

Children visiting the Hardwick Experience with their parents will be given a free packet of sunflower seeds to take home and grow. Once their sunflower has grown they can take a picture of themselves measuring the plant, with prizes including Sophie Conran garden games buckets and Very Hungry Caterpillar stool and garden tool sets for under-fives.
