Sun shines on Warsop Carnival

The sun shone and thousands of residents turned out for an afternoon of fun at this year’s Warsop Carnival at the weekend.

Organisers said around 6,000 people came along to enjoy the ‘perfect weather’ - after last year’s stifling heat and the event being rained off in 2012.

Highlights this year included displays from the Tigers Free Fall Parachute Team, The Stannage Stunt Team, and falconry specialists Hawks of Steel.

Christine Evans, widow of the late Netherfield councillor Derek Evans, also attended the carnival as a special guest.

Carnival secretary Tania Barlow told Chad: “The weather was just right this year and the turn-out was amazing - there must have been 6.000 people at this year’s carnival and it was a really brilliant day.”
