Stanton Hill fire started by candle

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a house on Cooperative Street, Stanton Hill, at 10am on Sunday.

The front bedroom of the house was smoke and fire damaged in the blaze.

It started after the occupants who had gone out and left candles burning.

Two fire engines from Mansfield and Ashfield attended and were on the scene for 50 minutes.

A spokesman advised people to put candles out before they go out or go to bed.
