Ashfield School in Kirkby has become the second school in Nottinghamshire to be awarded Sports Leadership UK academy status.
To achieve the accolade, students organised activity sessions for different people in the community, including primary school children, the elderly and disabled.
Dave Savidge, Sports Leadership UK’s national manager for England, presented the plaque to teacher Catherine Hargreaves and head teacher Richard Vasey on 16th July.
Catherine said: “The students have been a real credit to the school on their placements and have demonstrated a variety of key skills that will help them in future.
“I am extremely proud that Ashfield has been given Leadership academy status and that the students and staff have been recognised for the work they have done.”
Mr Savidge added: “This status is not a product of luck or good fortune, but a product of hard work, dedication and commitment.”
