The Active Mansfield partnership gave special thanks to Paralympic swimmers Ollie Hynd MBE and Charlotte Henshaw for their contribution to Active Mansfield`s awareness campaign.

The campaign “Will you take up the challenge?” encouraged people to get more active in a bid to tackle obesity, heart disease and type two diabetes in the district. It provided people with tips and ideas of how they could live a healthier lifestyle.

Ollie and Charlotte were the faces of the campaign and quickly became aspirational role models for the young and old alike.

Executive Mayor Kate Allsop said: “We’re very lucky to have two great role models who train in our district. Ollie and Charlotte have done an exceptional job leading the Active Mansfield awareness campaign. We would like to wish them all the best for Rio 2016.”

The gathering, on Wednesday, November 25, was also an opportunity to congratulate the pair for their outstanding achievements in the swimming World Championships earlier this year.

The swimmers came away with four medals, a world record and three European records at the competition back in July.

Ollie and Charlotte’s Swim Coach, Glenn Smith of Mansfield District Council, who recently received the prestigious Para-Coach of the Year Award for 2015 from the British Swimming Coaches also attended.
