Something wheely spicy for Macmillan

MANSFIELD couple Keith and Sylvia Johnson are to take part in one of the toughest motoring challenges in the UK in order to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

The Mac4x4 UK Challenge sees all those who enter cover more than 1,000 miles in three days, travelling over all types of terrain.

This is the 10th year running for the event and in that time £3-4m has been raised by all those who have taken part.

This year more than 80 vehicles are involved and Keith and Sylvia plan to tackle the challenge in their Land Rover Discovery.

Keith said: “I hope to raise as much money as possible for this brilliant cause.”

It is a cause that is very close to his and Sylvia’s hearts, having relatives that have needed support from the Macmillan Nurses in the past.

In order to raise sponsorship for the event, Keith and Sylvia have organised a fund-raising meal at the Cinnamon Spice restaurant on Mansfield’s Leeming Street.

Cinnamon Spice has held various events of this type and this special meal will include a starter, a main and a side dish all for £16.50, £6 of which will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The night will also feature a charity auction where a range of items can be won, including an afternoon off road driving - for a taste of what Sylvia and Keith will experience - and a quiz will be held where more prizes can be won.

The night will be staged on 27th February between 6-8pm and all money raised on the night will be donated to the charity.

Keith and Sylvia are inviting readers to join them in supporting a worthy cause as well as a great meal.
