Security at a well-know Bolsover landmark will be improved after Bolsover District Council stepped in following a number of recent incidents at the site.
The Hillstown Water Tower, owned by Severn Trent Water, has been subject to a number of security breaches and problems over the past couple of years.
Bolsover District Council’s cabinet member for community safety, Counc Brian Murray-Carr said: “We have been very concerned about the security of this site.
“Since raising our concerns with Severn Trent, they have been very pro-active and agreed to our requests to improve security around the site, which will hopefully stop anymore incidents of this nature.”
Severn Trent has confirmed that they will erect a high security fence around the base of the tower to prevent any further incidents and improve the safety of the site.
