FIVE events celebrating the history and culture of the Emerald Isle will be held at Mansfield’s Boothy’s Club this autumn.
The schedule of Irish events will begin with a talk about St Patrick by Deirdre O’Byrne on 5th September.
This will be followed by The Folklore of the Glens of Antrim by Fran O’Boyle on 12th September and The Irish and the legacy of the First World War by John Poulter on 19th September.
On 26th September, Pat Murphy will discuss Michael Collins: ‘The Big Fella’, while The History of the Gaelic Athletic Association by Alan Bairner will follow on 3rd October.
Evenings will start at 8pm, with entry £3 including sandwiches (concessions £2).
Speakers will talk for about 45 minutes to an hour and a discussion session will follow.
