SUTTON’S Rotary Club has joined forces with other Rotary groups from across the UK to raise awareness about World Polio Day.
Rotary members are using social media such as Twitter and Facebook to raise awareness about the condition, which affects the nervous system and can lead to paralysis.
Members can post information online to promote discussion about the disease and it was launched on 24th October, which is World Polio Day.
President of the Sutton club Terry Fensome said: “We want people to know how close we are to eradicating this terrible disease and how much we need to wipe out the final one per cent. Rotary, in partnership with other health organisations, has achieved a tremendous amount since starting the drive to end polio in 1985.”
