Former Derby County footballer and Strictly star Robbie Savage is to present awards to more than 90 local young people, at Derbyshire County Council’s Young Achiever Awards.
Robbie will chat to award-winners and present them with their awards on stage in a glitzy Oscar-style ceremony on Friday 7th December. The award winners range in age from three to 18 and are from across Derbyshire.
The annual awards, run by the county council for 14 years, recognise extraordinary children and young people in the county for:
* Bravery in fighting an illness
* Kindness in helping others
* Commitment to improving their school, community or local environment
* Sporting, musical, artistic or academic success
Derbyshire County Council’s Leader, Councillor Andrew Lewer said: “The ceremony is a wonderful evening and we have lined up the chance for our Young Achievers to meet a footballing and Strictly star as an extra treat.”
“This year we will recognise the achievements of 95 Derbyshire youngsters and I am looking forward to seeing them at the awards evening.”
Robbie said: “It’s a great honour to be asked along to the Derbyshire Young Achiever awards. I’m looking forward to meeting all the youngsters and it will be a great evening for the winners and their families.”
Derbyshire County Council’s Chairman, Councillor George Wharmby will join Robbie on stage to help present the awards.
