Roads re-open after Sutton minibus death crash

POLICE have re-opened a number of roads in the Sutton area after a fatal minibus crash earlier today (Monday).

A man died after the minibus he was travelling in was in collision with a Renault Clio on the MARR road close to its junction with Hamilton Road and Hermitage Lane.

The incident happened at around 12.40am and the man - believed to be 25 years old - was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, who was travelling in the same vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was taken to King’s Mill Hospital.

Several other people in the minibus were treated for minor injuries.

The incident led to the closure of a stretch of King’s Mill Road East, the MARR road and Hamilton Road until around noon.

Police investigating the collision have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
