An audience of around 200 attended a music concert at the John Fretwell Complex laid on by The Rotary Club of Warsop, Shirebrook and District in aid of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The Band of The RAF College, conducted by Squadron Leader Chris Weldon, played a wide-ranging programme, from military marches to soul Bossa Nova to pomp and circumstances.

They were joined by the RAF Swing Wing, led by Warrant Officer Gary Stevens, who played a medley of Big Band swing numbers.

Vocal accompaniment was provided throughout by Kerry Shultz to numbers such as ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’, James Bond’s ‘Skyfall’ and The Bodyguard’s ‘I Have Nothing’.

Organisers say the evening has been very popular over the last few years and will hopefully be repeated again in 2014.
