A community orchard containing 50 apple, pear and plum trees has been planted at The Carrs nature reserve in Warsop, as part of Mansfield District Council’s initiative to create ‘living food banks’ for residents to enjoy.

Children from Church Vale Primary school joined members of The Carrs Friends’ Group and staff from Mansfield District Council’s Parks team to plant the trees.

Coun Phil Shields said: “It will not only enhance the habitat for wildlife, but will also provide a healthy food resource for the local community for the next 80 to 90 years.”
