The Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping, recently paid a visit to Ashfield School’s Post 16 Centre to gain a better understanding of their uniformed services programme.
It was highly appropriate that he chose Ashfield in view of the fact that seven of the department’s students are presently serving as Nottinghamshire Police Cadets.
Mr Tipping discussed a number of issues currently facing the police force and, in a lively discussion, answered many of the students’ questions, including the extent to which budget cuts are likely to impact on recruitment over the next three years.
Student Mitchell Grainger said: “The visit was very enlightening. I learnt a lot from Mr Tipping and it has inspired me to better myself.”
