WORK to revamp a popular Skegby play area got underway on Monday.

Ashfield District Council has secured funding to improve the Stamper Crescent recreation ground and has worked with the Skegby Neighbourhood and Residents’ Group and Sutton’s Quarrydale School to design the improvements.

The work will include a refurbished toddler play area, swings and gym equipment, and is expected to be complete by next month.

Said council chairman, May Barsby: “Ashfield has many play areas and it is important that they are improved and updated to encourage more children and families to enjoy the outdoors.”
