IT must have been the wind and rain, but as I crawled down the hill of Ravensdale Road in Mansfield on Friday evening at 25mph the speed warning sign was stubbornly showing 34mph - thank goodness it was not a police camera!
I REALLY hope that local people appreciate how lucky we are to have so many footpaths and cycle trails in woodland, thanks to the reclamation of so many old pit tips. Sadly, when I wandered around Tippings Wood in Blidworth on Sunday, my walk was spoiled by having to dodge dog mess on the main paths. Why do some dog walkers still find it so hard to clean up after their pets - and to leave the mess slap bang in the middle of the path is downright rude!
It can sometimes take ages to get through the traffic lights from Newgate Lane onto Ratcliffe Gate. So it’s nice of the landlord at the Kings Arms to position their big-screen beer garden TV perfectly for waiting traffic to enjoy.
I enjoyed the festive decorations in Mansfield this year, but surely it’s time for the Merry Christmas sign on the town hall to come down? What are they waiting for? 112th Night?
You have to question the wisdom of Stagecoach putting massive pictures of Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher on their buses in Mansfield. Great film, I’m sure, but she hasn’t always been the area’s most popular politician...
