It Asda be the right thing to do
Well done to the Asda superstore in Forest Town for acting on a complaint raised in this column many months ago. I noticed when walking through the car park the other day new-ish signs - well, I hadn’t spotted them before - warning shoppers that if they park in disabled spaces they must display an appropriate badge or risk a fine. Let’s hope that other shops follow suit and that inconsiderate drivers finally stop parking in the ‘wrong’ spaces, causing unnecessary problems for others. And let’s also hope that the same motorist shoppers also stop dumping trolleys in parking bays!
Traffic lights plea
Surely all sets of traffic lights in areas that are quiet at night should be fitted with motion sensors so that they can automatically switch to green as the odd vehicle approaches. I was the only car in sight on Derby Road at around 4am, but still had to wait for what seemed ages as the lights turned to red on my approach.
Santander is on West Gate, Stockwell Gate and the Market Place. How long can this continue before we have more empty shops? asks Chad reader Phil Mitchell, of Mansfield. If you have a suggestions for an item for inclusion in Eye Spy. e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
I know that some pubs have taken advantage of the relaxed opening hours to serve alcohol at what was once unusual hours. But when I was stopped in the street at 3.30am the other day and asked where the pub was, I was a little bemused - though still pointed the drinker in the right direction.
