MANSFIELD and Ashfield are all set to celebrate Friday’s royal wedding with various community events and many street parties.

On Thursday, the eve of the Royal Wedding, Mansfield Museum is inviting residents to help them kick off the celebrations at a drop-in craft session for children.

Youngsters can design their own wedding card, make a flag, create a plate to commemorate the occasion and design Kate a wedding dress.

The session is from 10am to 12noon and costs £1 per person.

On Royal Wedding Day itself, Mansfield town centre will be staging its own version of the Wacky Races, a box kart race along Stockwell Gate. There will also be a huge street party in the Market Place.

A giant screen will show live pictures from the Royal Wedding at Westminster Abbey and there will be funfair rides, food vendors and a craft fair. Tables will also be arranged in the Market Place for people to bring along picnics or eat food from the stalls.

Gala Bingo Mansfield is offering members a glass of bubbly and a champagne cup cake to get them in the party mood on Royal Wedding Day. A big screen will be put up and there will be special prize draws and competitions.

At 4pm at the Old Meeting House Unitarian Church on Stockwell Gate there will be a Royal Wedding-themed afternoon tea and games.

Don’t miss next week’s Chad for pages of your celebration photographs.
