A jobs fair attended by over 200 people in Ollerton and organised by Sherwood MP Mark Spencer has been hailed as a great success.
The free event was held last Thursday at the Life Spring Centre in Ollerton where members of the public were able to network, get advice or guidance and take that crucial first step towards finding the career for them.
Mr Spencer said: “It is always nerve racking when I am holding these events but I think our jobs fair went really well today. It is my job to do everything I can to try and help local people to find jobs and provide a more stable future for them and their families.
“Thank you to everyone who attended and all the companies who took their time to speak to local people and help them find jobs or training. If one person finds the job that they were looking for it will have been worth it!”
Dan Tysoe, Mr Spencer’s Parliamentary assistant, said: “It is too early to tell yet how many people secured jobs as a result of this event as applications are still coming in. Newark and Sherwood Homes had six full-time vacancies and were able to give out 13 application packs to interested job seekers.”
