A man has been jailed for 17 years today for 15 sexual offences including rape and sexual assault against two children.

Graham Wardle, aged 49, was found guilty of 15 counts including attempted rape, sexual assault and causing and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Wardle, of King John’s Road, Clipstone, committed the offences over a number of years – Nottingham Crown Court was told.

In 2014, one of his victims was admitted to hospital after having tried to take a number of tablets. At the time she said one of the reasons she’d done this was the sexual abuse she’d suffered from Wardle.

Detective Sergeant Dan Bebbington, from Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection, said: “These victims have been extremely brave throughout a difficult case and I have the greatest respect for them.

“I hope that today’s result offers them some comfort in the knowledge that this man is now behind bars for his crimes, and I hope it encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and speak to police.

“We are determined to bring perpetrators of child sexual abuse before the courts and will do all that we can to ensure these criminals can cause no further harm to children.”

Wardle was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (Friday, November 4).
