NOTTINGHAMSHIRE County Council has launched a new service to help bereaved families and new parents.
The Tell Us Once service means that when someone registers a birth or death at one of the council’s register offices, government and local authority services will be notified about a change in their circumstances at the same time.
With the person’s permission, the service notifies organisations on the family’s behalf and there are more than 20 services involved so far, including child benefit, pensions, the DVLA and blue car badges.
The service will also offer customers help with completing forms, collecting and returning bus passes, and signposting bereaved families to aftercare services.
Tell Us Once is free and will be offered to all customers while making an appointment. It takes around 10 minutes to complete.
