Lord Rana visited Vision West Notts college to tour its new creative arts centre at the Derby Road campus in Mansfield and its Construction and Logistics Skills Academy in Kirkby.

During the visit he also heard about ‘bksb’ – a college subsidiary that has grown to become the UK’s leading developer of assessment software for maths, English and ICT skills and met with the college’s leadership team.

He described the college as “a highly successful educational institution and business thriving under the able leadership of principal Asha Khemka.”

Lord Rana is president of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has a particular interest in promoting business links. He was awarded an MBE in 1996 for his contribution to the economic regeneration of Belfast through the development of hotels, restaurants, fashion shops and modern office accommodation.

In June 2004 he was created a life peer as Baron Rana of Malone in the County of Antrim.
