A new vicar has taken over churches in Mansfield that have been without a leader for more than 18 months.

Rev Caroline Phillips has been appointed to take over at St Augustine Church in Bull Farm and St Barnabas Church on Pleasley Hill.

The Bishop of Sherwood was at a licensing service on Tuesday evening to welcome Rev Phillips, who has recently moved from Ollerton and Boughton, where she was a curate.

Having recently returned from 10-month’s maternity leave, she is looking forward to the challenge.

The 33-year-old said: “I’m really looking forward to it, this is the first time I’ve had church of my own to look after but having been on maternity for a year I’m raring to go and looking forward to get stuck in.”
